When I went to my first Con-tourage party, I wasn't in their group, but what made me want to be was the fact that they were so welcoming. I didnt think it was too loud or crowded, just maybe a little hot but then again I was drinking a bit and wearing a jacket. :)
I can be shy and the group made me feel comfortable and they weren't uppity, standoffish or pretentious like some con groups (not trying to be rude but that's how I felt as a relatively con newbie who happened to be shy). Anyway, there were plenty of people there dancing and partying but it never felt crowded. Personally, I prefer to relax, people watch or talk. I was able to do that comfortably because the music wasnt too loud. I didnt know many people but random people would come over to talk and they werent rude or pushy and didnt make me feel silly for just sitting on the couch most of the time.
This is just my opinion. I really wanted to share it although it may seem biased. But, it should be noted that most of the people who are part of the so-called "in group" were strangers who attended a Con-tourage party and had a great time. By the way, there really is no "in group" because everyone is welcome.
