Dragon*Con Thriller

Hey! We finally have the official video for the "Thriller" world record attempt posted and I figured I would share with all of you!

THANK YOU so very much to anyone who participated, helped, volunteered, or anything at all to do with this event. You guys rock so hardcore.

Awesome

Loved the big silver glove in the back.

And right... left... right... left...

Yay!

I had a blast doing this. Is it sad that the boyfriend and I have been practicing since we got home?

This was so much fun, thank you guys for putting this together!

Thriller Dance saves me from fainting!

I was giving blood today, since LifeSouth foiled my attempt during D*C (paperwork/computer problems). I got lightheaded and came very close to fainting, and was desperately telling myself, "Think of something else! Think of something else!" A painting on the wall made me think of somebody's costume at the Thriller Dance, and then I thought of the dance itself and started doing the steps in my head, and that carried me through the process. I maintained consciousness, thanks to this wonderful, fun event.

Looks good but I can't finish watching it. I signed up for this and found that I was mentally and physically incapable after Saturday evening. By Sunday I was becoming an emotional mess, though this was my fifth con.
I almost wish I had just gone for it but I was a little stressed and the concept of a coordinated dance was not appealing.

So, sorry I didn't make it, glad you all had a great time.

If it does not break the record, its certainly the most visually interesting group to try it.

Not every group has a Flying Spagetti Monster smack in the middle!

Well done folks! Well done!

It was a great time and if we didn't make it this year (or if someone beats us before next year), I look forward to doing it again.

I can't tell you what bizarre fun it was to hear 900 other people saying "booty bounce! booty bounce!" in unison!

Great job by all of you! I've been sad all week since DC is over, but this put a big smile on my face :)

This was such an amazing experience for me (I'm the nun twirling her habit at the end, LOL) and I couldn't be happier I went for it. The electricity and excitement was incredible. Thanks so much for thinking of, then working so hard to pull it off! Wouldn't have traded it for the world!

[identity profile] monetgypsy.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I was right behind you! You are how I was able to spot myself in one of the videos.

Looks great!

Here's hoping we make the book.

It was fun being a part of this event and the camaradarie in the room was incredible. Thanks for organizing it.

i couldn't tell--was the Predator guy from the rehearsals in this one?

[identity profile] a-tender-kiss.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
He was. I remember he was near me!

[identity profile] arseaboutface.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahah, well done everybody!

[identity profile] jackwabbit.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
This was tons of fun. I'll be praticing hard for next year, mates!

Thanks so much for making this happen with a miniumum of trauma and drama.

You rock!

PS-I'm the Jedi Chef in the middle.

Oh, if they do it again next year, I will definitely be in on it! My friends and I were doing the YA Lit costume contest, and between suiting up, judging, getting dinner, and picture taking, there just wasn't time. :P

Everyone looked amazing! While I didn't participate I had a few friends who did.
What a great video!! Everyone should be proud of themselves for working so hard and everything turned out so well. I can't wait to hear the results back!!

Record or not, this shows a level of organization, commitment and dedication that deserves an award. I'd like to nominate the organizers of this event for the 2009 Cat Herding award.

[identity profile] joyeuse13.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely! Given how hard it is to get any number of geeks all pointed in the same direction, this is nothing short of amazing.

So much awesomeness.

[identity profile] latervader9.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
This looked amazing and so much fun. I was so bummed I was missing out (went home Sun). Never again will I do just one day at Con.

[identity profile] fory-san.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't stop laughing when the camera focuses on the Flying Spaghetti Monster. XD

[identity profile] tardisian.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That was in-frakkin'-credible!!!

[identity profile] werewulf.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Such fun,

It makes me laugh that I can't watch this video without the litany of 1-2-3-4-5-6-look left running through my head.

Booty step booty step...

And I'm glad that my pink boxing gloves are visible a couple of times in the crowd!

[identity profile] naytally.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
I was highly amused watching the video and seeing people saying "booty bounce, booty bounce"

[identity profile] musicboxwaltz.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
oh that is soooooo fantastic!
i heard they had to turn away a ton of people due to space though :[
so i am guessing the record didn't get broken?

[identity profile] rangerlyn.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't know yet, because Guinness had to review not only ours, but a group from England (approx 475), and also groups from Mexico and Spain...but the Mexico and Spain groups may not have done the correct length of song (record is to the 5:58 length album version, while they appear to have danced to the radio 3 minute version).

Everyone keep your fingers crossed! :)

[identity profile] domestichippie.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
awesome!

[identity profile] utkari02.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
So fucking awesome. Seeing all of the different costumes was brilliant. I saw the Joker, and Quidditch players, Captain Jack, Colonial Fleet members and so much more!!

Made of Win! Wish I could have seen it in person!
