Maybe it is just me

Maybe it is just me, but when I read the post on Va Tech fans = Abusive rednecks and then see how 11Alive reports mockingly on DC, it almost seems as if it 11Alive has the attitude that it is okay to mock people who are different.  If any of the VA fans talked about in the post were watching that report, I can imagine they would laugh and almost feel validated at their behavior.

Edit:
Either I used the wrong link or the orginal post was edited.  Sorry about that to anyone looking for that post.

Edit 2:
Here is the link to the report on the smell of DC.

I agree. The reporter was VERY inappropriate. Rudeness aside, the reporter should have stuck to the topic at hand (reporting on the CONVENTION) and not the love lives (or lack thereof) of everyone he ran into.

It's just amazing to me that the reporter was even MAKING some of those assumptions. The guy he interviewed at the end, who was like, "Well, you know, chicks have to take a backseat to saving the world"? He was not only pretty cute, he also had a really good attitude about being antagonized that way. If some douchebag from Local Station Fifty had suggested to me that my presence at a sci-fi convention necessitates my being single, unattractive, socially inept, outcast, or unloved, I'd probably have demanded an apology on the spot and ended the interview -- assuming I wasn't stunned into speechlessness.
