I'm looking to mentor a DragonCon first timer. This will be my tenth year attending DragonCon.
I'm looking to take a newbie under my wing becuase my first year I was all alone and had no one to show me around. I'm from a family of Muggles and I was so overwhelmed! I really wish that I'd had someone to help me. For the last two years, I've adopted a D*C newbie.
The first time it just sort of happened. We met on the first night and exchanged cell phone numbers. I asked him what he was interested in and then promised him that if he took my advice, he'd have a great time. I introduced him to my
friends, took him to all the best parties (some with celebs) answered all his questions via text message, and told him, based on his interests, which events are must-see. At the end of the weekend, he told me he'd had a great time.
The second year I made a post online to find someone and it worked out great. During DragonCon she texted me when she had questions and we met up from time to time. She was really nice and I enjoyed helping out.
If you are interested, send me an email with a good subject line at skzb at hotmail dot com and I'll reply with my phone number.
We can talk on the phone and you can tell me more about what you are interested in and what kind of experience you are looking for. If, after talking with me, you decide I am not the right Jedi Master for your Padawan needs, that is fine. No pressure. If it turns out that you are interested in being my first-year student at Hogwarts, we can take it from there.
