Please, costume advise from veteran DC'er's

This year will be my first foray into the world of DragonCon. (SQUEEEEEE!) I am enthusiastically putting together my Steamgrrrl Adventurer costume and I'm hoping to get some weapon advice from the veterans here. I found guns that I am in love with on Ebay, but I don't know if security will let me through the door with them. How strict are they? How real looking is "too real looking"? I don't want to spend a good portion of my costume budget, only to have to leave them in the car.

Are they con-cool? If not, is there anything I can do to make them more con-friendly?
