Now that I'm awake, I realized that I forgot to post all my Friday night pictures! D'oh. That's fixed, finally.

Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the fellow con-goers who put so much creativity, time, money and effort into their costumes! Thanks also go out to Mad Dog in security who did a very good job whenever I was around, and considering the circumstances was just way beyond impressive. Star and the whole media relations team was also stellar, as they've been every time I've dealt with them so far.

The photo rule and in particular the implementation left something to be desired. Hopefully next year there will be dedicated areas, or clearer signage, better match between signage and what security says, or just more fun at the Marriott which has a far superior lobby design anyhow! But overall, the little snags didn't do much to detract from a wonderful time at the convention, and overwhelmingly friendly and cool people!

I am most certainly ready for next year!

Hi I'm looking for a picture of me, I was dressed as the Phantom of the Opera (ahhh I remember back in the day when I was the only one) I was wearing the costume on Sunday. My cloak was Black with red Lineing I had a black fadora and I was the only female phantom in the traditional costume (not the movie version and not the female red death)

(and yes i have gone though all of the previous entries to see if anywere there)

Thank you in advance!

Pics are up. First two pages are mostly friends. Last 3 are costumes and stars. Lemme know if you want the largest version of any of them.

I wrote a more complete writeup in my livejournal here. It's fairly boring unless you just happen to enjoy reading total strangers DCon writeups.

Yes, I know many a batman, so I here is a link to a pic or two of me.. the tallest batman there from what I've been told. My wife got distracted with the camera while I was posing on Friday night and at the parade, so I don't really have many. If anyone has some, please let me know. I've found a few already

We came, saw, conquered, etc. etc.

Dragon Con 2005 was definitely one to remember, and although we had a blast roaming the hotel, running into old friends, and seeing all there was to see, the best times were spent at the suite, partying with those nearest and dearest to us.  It opened our eyes to who our true friends were, and just how far we'd go for one another.

*sniff*

A big fat greasy hug goes out to Natalie, Mariah, Kim, [livejournal.com profile] jeremiad, [livejournal.com profile] atl2006, [livejournal.com profile] diosabellaluna, [livejournal.com profile] elwood_p, [livejournal.com profile] lysophobic, Daniel, Rick, [livejournal.com profile] photognome (my brotha!!), [livejournal.com profile] sithvixen (thanks for dinner:-)), [livejournal.com profile] the_saint311 (my actual brotha!!), Ben, John D, Larry, Mark, and Lauren...for making this the best Con yet.

(If I forgot yer name, it's because I'm still trying to reassemble my frontal lobe)

A special congratulations goes out to [livejournal.com profile] takaiji for acquiring that lovely finger decoration...the one that so rightly deserves to be there. :-)

Hi, all.

Thanks again to everyone who gave me pointers on disability services. My brother had a great time. He wants to make Dragon*Con an annual event!

It was a good Dragon overall-- my brother was a trooper about the volunteer stuff that I did-- even to the point of attending the Firefly Shindig in a scooter while I ran around to do administrative stuff.

I'll feel pretty comfortable about my brother attending next year, thanks to our good experience this year.

I'm looking for photos of me that were taken on Saturday. I was one of the two Zatannas, and I was the one in the yellow cummerbund, knee-high boots and red bow tie.

If any of you have posted a photo of me or know where one is, I'd appreciate it. I was getting snapped all day, but I've only seen myself in one person's gallery so far.
[identity profile] sholvah.livejournal.com
I wrote a nice article on my experience at Dragon*Con at my fansite starwarsepics.com. The article focuses a bit on more of the SW tracks and news, but still features events that happened at the con.

The article is featured here.

Hope you enjoy! Your face may be among the pictures posted. ;]

Frist of all I would like to thank all the people on Security staff who worked long hours and did what they had to do to keep the con going. I know it is tough sometimes but most of you handled yourself in a professional manner under the most stressful enviroments.

Second, I wish to apoligze if any of my staffers were rude to you. Due to the fact Katrina and gas prices and other unforseeable events we only had 40% of veteran staff at con. There were many walk ons to shift and did not know how to keep it professional. I am truly sorry if they were rude to you.

Third, I would like to thank Dragoncon for makeing the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society the charity for this year. A few of the Senior people told me this charity was picked out because of me be dianosed with Leukemia on March. That has ment alot to me to know that I am loved by more people than I know.

Fourth, I would like to thank those who gave to the "Make a Wicked Wish Fund" it was donations to help me out in my time of need. Once again I was shocked by the donations that people were giving me in my time of need. You have made me feel truly loved, thank you.

I was wondering if any of you would have suggestions on resources of making costumes, particularly casting and molding for armor and masks. We've been doing google searches up the wahzoo and have found some sites, but I'm hoping some of you might have other websites we haven't found yet.

Much appreciated!!

BTW, if there's a better place for me to go to ask, please let me know. I've checked out various cosplay journals but most have gaps inbetween entries and what not. :/ I'd like to be able to find a good active costuming site.

Does anyone know what the total was that Dragon Con raised for the Katrina Relief Fund?

Robert Jordan is still in Atlanta!! He will be signing the Wheel of Time series at Chapter 11 Books at Peachtress Battle at 7 pm.

Just some quick details:

No need to purcase a book from us to attend (though we do have the series on hand)
If you want (again, no need to do this) you can pre-purchase Knife of Dreams which comes out in October.
The more the merrier!!! It is very uncomfortable for the author when very few to no one shows up. We have had a lot of phone calls, but if you were at Dragon-Con this weekend, you have maybe had your fix until next D-Con. Feel free to come down and meet and greet Mr. Jordan and enjoy our humble company!

We are at Chapter 11 Books 2345 Peachtree Road Atlanta, GA 30305
You can call for directions at 404.237.7199

Thanks!!!

HOLY CRAP!!!

Wow what a year! DCTV was such a huge success this by the good graces of the Dragon Con Attendees. I hope you all enjoyed what we put together this year. To let everyone know what originally started as a two and three person operation now included a huge collaborative effort by many persons.

Over the next few weeks we are going to be dispersing our video content from this year on our website. We're not doing it all at once because we don't want to kill our server.

Our Fearless Leader Brian has already posted two of the spots we used for DCTV. ENJOY!!!

And please please let us know what you thought of our stuffs. We're comment whores... help us feed our addiction.

Sometime on Saturday or Sunday, I saw flyers for a missing teenager. A young black male, age sixteen, who hadn't been heard from for two days and was last seen at Dragoncon. Unfortunately his name escapes me.

But then the flyers vanished. Did they find him? Misunderstanding or tragedy? Anyone know?
[identity profile] vampry.livejournal.com
I loved the DragonConTV spots that I saw, especially the Adult Swim-like bits.

I must say though: why aren't these folks doing the actual tv ads for the convention? You know, the lame ones that run for a few days before the con starts? 'Cause I hate to say this but the DragonConTV people are a lot better.

Just my opinion.

Looking for the artist who had a table in the art show and was putting out a calendar of "Norse Women." Please let me know if you can identify this artist for me.
[identity profile] partywhipple.livejournal.com
Ok, first off the con rocked this year. It's every ADD boy's dream with so many things to be distracted by. I am working on resizing the 400+ photoes I took for my 2005 Gallery.

Second, I know that some of the staff for DCon are in this group along with volunteers. You guys are amazing and did a fantastic job and deserve many years of praise for the fantastic work you all did.

Third, before I post the pics I just wanted to say the costumes were amazing. I usually don't talk about favorites but this year I have to go with the young ladies in the I Play With Dolls group (both awesome costumes and amazing singing) and the young woman who was dressed as Charlie. Good GOD she was the most adorable person I have ever seen. Kudos to myself for not tucking her under one arm and running.

I'll post a link to the gallery as soon as it is up. I hope I got pics of you people who are asking for pics. Considering the number I took it's a distinct possibility.

CYA!

Parade Pics

[identity profile] wiebke.livejournal.com
I live one block over from where the D*C parade starts up, which means that in addition to being all set for D*C in general, I get easy access to the parade. Anyway, here are some pics!

Everybody loved the Klingonmobile

More pics here )

If anybody wants a high-res file for any of these, let me know and I can email, no problem.

Meanwhile, I've posted some pictures of myself here.

Among other things, I was a fiddler at the drum circles this year, and am looking 'round for some pictures. Granted, I do have a few myself, but I've yet to scan them in and post them. It was a fun con, and I look forward to attending next year!
[identity profile] metaflibble.livejournal.com
Team Zissou had a great time at D*con this year. It was so great that we are planning on selling the dolphins and the island to afford the liquor for next year.

Here are all the photos!

I noticed an abundance of Harry Potter Slytherin House costumes this year. In fact, there were some really great HP costumes, which made me happy.

If any of you all took pictures of Slytherin students (or Professor Snape) on Saturday OR Sunday, could you point me toward your accounts or sites? I was hoping that someone might have got a pic of my costume.

I was also the one running around in the (somewhat controversial) "Snape Is Innocent" t-shirt. For those who are interested I have posted the link to purchase one in my personal journal. They're giving 10% of the sale proceeds to Hurricane Katrina relief.

Hey all! Sadly I didn't realize there was a DragonCon community until after the fact. I should have known. But I'm glad I'm here now!

Here are the pictures I took during the con. Make sure you comment if you see yourself, a friend, or if you recognize me!

Behold - the pictures )
[identity profile] tenshihitomi.livejournal.com
First off, I'd just like to say that I had a bitchin' good time at D*C. I met William Stout and got him to sign a book of his sketches (one of which was an ink drawing of the poster for Ralph Bakshi's Wizards). I met Peter S. Beagle (he was sosososo nice) and actually ended up getting a bit flustered, which I didn't see happening. One of the highlights of the con for me was the panel with two actors from the LotR movies, Bruce Hopkins and John Noble. It was interesting to hear them talk about the movie-making process and some of the things that happened on/off the set. John Noble talked about the scene in which Faramir rides into battle at Osgiliath, and he (King Denethor) is sitting in his dining hall eating. Then he asks Pippin to sing a song for him, and the song is interspersed with scenes of the battle. It was a really moving scene, one of Mr. Noble's favorites as it were, so I loved hearing him discuss it at length. Con was so much fun that I'm already pining for next yearXD

Secondly, I was wondering if anyone has pictures of me. It seemed like I got stopped quite a bit, but I still haven't found myself in any of the galleries. I was the short blond girl who was running around on Saturday dressed as Alex from A Clockwork Orange. ::cocks a thumb at the icon::

Con Pics

[identity profile] for-play.livejournal.com
I've started to get photos up, our gallery of them is at this address:

http://pervpatrol.net/gallery/DragonCon_2005

I'll be replacing the photos as I clean them up and there will be more added as I get them from my friends. Pictures from the previous 4 years are up on this site as well. If you would like copies of any of them, you can email me at pics at pervpatrol dot net.
[identity profile] creepigurl.livejournal.com
I posted some photos of the Nightmare Armor Studios guys in their Jin Roh suits taken at DragonCon. I spent most of the Con sick in my room so I don't have many photos this year ~ just the one session with the guys and a few shots of friends. Apparently the more I had to drink the worse the photos became...and the photos I took during the Combichrist show just didn't pan out =/

If anyone has any photos of the NAS guys (especially [livejournal.com profile] scarecrow777) ~ or even of me (there were a few taken when I ventured out of the room ~ 6'+ tall, long dark hair)~ please let me know =)

Pics can be seen ::here::

My pics are up at http://images.cosplay.com/gallery.php?cat=24175&member=147. I didn't get tons as my hubby was taking the pics, but there are a fair number. I was Scarlet Witch, as you can see from the photos (hubby kept saying "I want a pic of you with *insert superhero here*!"), on Friday and we were Bespin Leia and Lando on Saturday.
