D*C noob trying to plan a Twilight meetup, looking for opinions and advice
I've been putting this off for months, hoping that someone else would take the reins or that I would suddenly be imbued with more knowledge, but as we're down to only three weeks left (!!), it's become a now-or-never thing...
This year will be my first D*C ever and my first convention in costume. One of the costumes I'm doing is a screen-accurate Victoria from Twilight. I know there are other Twilight costumers who will be at D*C, and I would really like to get a Twilight meetup and photo op put together. But being a D*C and convention cosplay noob, I'm at a bit of a loss on how to organize this, and when and where the meetup should take place.
I took at look at the YA Lit track tentative schedule and the two times that seemed like the best options to my noob eyes are:
As far as locations, there's this fantastic post with suggestions and pictures, but having never been to Atlanta much less D*C, I'm at a bit of a loss. I'm leaning towards indoors, given the time of day and the fact that some of these costumes may be quite warm. I'm not sure which hotel the YA Lit track is usually in or where costume meetups usually gather. I like the lighting in the pictures of the Hyatt lounges from that list, but otherwise have no opinions.
So any thoughts, opinions, suggestions? I would really love for this to happen, but I'm feeling decidedly handicapped by my lack of D*C experience.
Thanks in advance,
GlassCannon

ETA: We've decided on 8:30pm Friday at the 12th floor lounge at the Hilton. Everyone is welcome, so bring your gold contacts and stop by!

-Friday at 8:30pm -- during a track session without any big stars and not really related to Twilight
-Sunday at 7:30pm -- an hour before the Yule Ball starts, but two hours after costume contest judging starts, so people may be dressed anyway with nowhere to go
