Costuming advice
Hi peeps.
I recently joined the apocalypse rising faction. I realised that besides my Droog outfit, wouldn't it be fun to create a costume, or get a 'here's one I made earlier' post apocalyptic themed costume. Max Max, Fallout 3/resident evil themed mish mash or similar costuming.
I already sent an email to certain people directly involved with that faction, but I'd like to ask the whole lj community. After all, it takes geeks to assist geeks : D
Thanks

Post-apoc is really easy to put together yourself if you aren't going for something movie authentic. Get some gear, distress it (drag it behind your car or bury it for a few weeks or what not) and then put it all together, VOILA!

The waist peice has improved since that was taken. Try to get a little more authentic every year :)

An easy thing about post apocalyptic costumes is that they are SUPPOSED to look beat-up and distressed. So just about an old leather jacket can be turned into a passable outfit. Go to a used sports equipment store and buy some shoulder pads. Go nuts on them with chains, nuts, and bolts. Glue on some car/mailbox reflectors. Try out a few different things; you are bound to come up with something that looks good and fits you.
Here is a link to some of the costumes, weapons, and armor that I've made:

Good luck! Show up with something cool!
