D*C Thriller Dance

Some folks out there have come up with the brilliant idea to get D*C into the Guinness Book for the largest group of folks doing the thriller dance all together at once. I don't think there's been a recent update from them but it would only take 243 people from what I understand and I'm sure this can be done. This is their facebook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=94488259317 . If anyone knows more about this, I wanna  hear it! Especially with MJ passing, I'm sure the interest could be drummed up.

D*C Thriller dance world record

Hiyas :) This is Kimber, the crazy person that started all this. Let me give you all a bit of information since I've got things spread all over the place.

1. I contacted D*C back in May about this. I haven't heard back from Regina after my last email, but I will be getting back to her once I have a few more details worked out. I would love for them to help us, but we're working on some things in case they can't.

2. A bit more about what we're doing in case D*C won't/can't help us: One of the people involved in organizing this has some contacts with Atlanta police, so we're hoping they can help, too. We're trying to organize this while living several hours from Atlanta, so it's going to take time for people to get back to us on stuff. We also have to keep safety in mind as well as what is legal in the city.

3. I've already done the paperwork for Guinness Book and am waiting on them now. I know you all don't know me from the next nutjob, but believe me I am a researcher and rule person, so this will be done properly IF we can go for the world record. If we don't, then let's just do it for fun.

4. The prisoners are neither an official world record nor were all of them doing the Thriller dance. They rock, for sure, but the official GBWR has the William and Mary students as official. Please check out http://www.wm.edu/news/stories/2009/wm-officially-breaks-thriller-dance-record-123.php and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiVutlz9Yzs.

5. Everything will be done in accordance to GBWR if we can do this for the record. I have the paperwork and an account with them.

6. No, we don't want everyone dressed as zombies, but if you want to do a zombie costume, that's cool. What my vision was when I first thought of this was that we have the essence of DragonCon, so I want stormtroopers, Browncoats, Jedi, Slave Leia, Dr. Horrible, fairies, superheroes, and all that makes D*C what it is dancing together. I think that's what it's all about whether we get to do it for the record or just for fun.

7. The lovely person who's doing the web site (who sadly had a death in the family and understandably had to put it on hold) has some great ideas for signing up and having those that participate stand out.

If you all have any questions, I'll check on here to answer them as best as I can, but hopefully the "official" site will be up soon. I'm also on dragonconforums.org and the Yahoo groups DragonCon and Debauchery League as scarfyrre (which is my screen name for everything).

I hope this answered some concerns. :)
