Please note that I did not write this, but I just found it on-line. The opinions, reviews, and directions are provided by the author of the guide, as I only go downtown abt once a year, so I'm hoping the info is accurate. I don't know who wrote it, as there doesn't seem to be a name attached.

Call ahead and check the info w/ the restaurants themselves.

RL is a PITA at the moment, hence the late post. I'm linking to last year's post w/ the 2 links here:

As always, suggestions, updates, corrections, additions, subtractions are welcomed! I'll edit asap and give credit, of course. :)

Hi everyone:
As I said before I am working on a series of vlogs on youtube.  Every year I like to do a series of episodes at Dragon Con.  I have been promoting my blogs on twitter and facebook.  I am also starting to promote them on this communities because it revolves around the above.   So here is a link to my latest information on Dragon Con.

What have been some of your experiences with driving to the con?  We've flown the last few years, and I'd rather not shell out three hundred dollars for a flight if I don't have to-the hotel is expensive enough.  It would actually be about half as much just to drive, even with parking.  We're booked at the Sheraton.  Has anyone done parking there?  What are some of the ins and outs we need to know?  I know it's going to be a bitch to get out of town Monday, but we're prepared for that.

Thanks, guys!

I only know the parade as a con-goer. Some friends of mine want to come to downtown Atlanta early on Saturday, park their car, and go watch the parade. Can anyone recommend a good parking lot or deck? I know they'll be able to find something if they drive around long enough, but it'd be great if I could direct them somewhere. Thanks!

I remember reading in this community that the ballrooms would be cleared between panels. That's a great idea. :) It's only fair to those who have waited in line.

I was wondering about a couple of things, though.

1) If folks are lined up to enter for the next panel in a ballroom, does security send them out a door different from the one where folks are lined up? I don't attend a lot of big panels, so can't remember how this is handled. It would make logical sense if people left by a different door, so that they couldn't mix in and break the line that is waiting for the next panel.

2) Will the smaller fan-track rooms also be cleared between panels?

I know there is still a few weeks until con, but I've been reading a lot of posts where people are staying off-site and will be driving in and out and I wanted to warn y'all about the traffic issue for the next 10 weekends.

According to wsbtv.com, the connector (which for you out-of-towners is the bit of highway where 75 and 85 merge into one road through downtown) will be having some major lane closures.  It will vary which lanes will be closed, so make sure you have alternative ways to get to the area, because it's possible North or South bound will be down to one lane.  Like this weekend (July 24-27) the Northbound Connector is closed except for one lane from North Ave. to where the road splits.  Yuck.  Williams St. is also closed and will be part of the construction during the next 10 weekends.

Just wanted to give those that have to drive in or that are coming in late Friday or Saturday/Sunday to be ready. :)
